Quick Tip: Adding a Facebook “Like” Button to Posts

Facebook Like Button

As Facebook continues to grow in popularity as a social network, bloggers can make it easier for their readers to share posts they like on Facebook by adding a Facebook “like” button to every post.

I have these here on Life Your Way, and you’ve probably noticed them at the bottom of posts (see it down there?). When readers click “like”, the post is added to their profile so that their friends can then click through to read the post on the site.

If you’d like to add a Facebook “like” button to your blog, here’s an easy way to do it:

1. Install the fbLikeButton plugin to your site. You can do this by downloading the plugin and then uploading it to your dashboard manually or by searching for it from your dashboard and letting WordPress install it for you automatically.

2. Once you’ve installed and activated the plugin, look on your dashboard menu (on the left-hand side of your screen) and scroll down until you see FBLikeButton.

3. Click on that, which will take you to the options page and set your options. Here, you can decide where you want the button displayed and what you want it to look like.

4. Make your selections and click Update Options.

That’s it — check your posts or pages to be sure the button looks the way you want it to look, and you’re set!

Now that that’s done, be sure to like Life Your Way on Facebook for more links and conversation!

Do you have the Facebook “like” button on your site? Do you have a Facebook page for your blog?

What a lovely drive up to your house. it’s perfect and I love your porch. In my opinion, porches are a must for any house. I bet when you sit out in the evening the wildlife is just wonderful to watch and late at night the amount of stars you see – oh I’m sooooo envious (in a good way of course). I can’t wait to see the rest.

Mandi, I cannot wait to see the rest of your home! But please, please tell me where you live, if you can. Not address or even city, but region or area of the state…it looks like a location where I want to end up sometime, Kentucky or Southern Indiana or North Carolina. But please, please…let me know!

What a lovely home! The drive was exciting for me. I look forward to the full tour soon. I’m a city girl so this is quite different for me. However, I often wonder if the country might be a pleasant change from the daily hustle and bustle of life.

I loved this. Thank you for sharing! Your house is so cute and surrounded by beauty! I hope you love every minute of living there! :o ) I can’t wait to see more! I was already thinking, I want to see INSIDE the house, when I read that you were going to share that next week. Yay!

We live on 10 acres (1/2 of it wooded) at the end of a private gravel drive. Nearly the entire property is circled by trees, so we have lots of privacy despite having some neighbors. 30+ uninhabited acres behind us. Additional large acreages around us. This area used to be a farm and was later subdivided. We have an old orchard on our property and a couple of old outbuildings. Love, love, love it here! I’ll admit, though, the house and property are really more than we can handle. LOL! We *so* need a tractor! And a maid! ;oP

What is fun, though, is that we *do* have space for visitors. Just last night, some dear friends of ours passed through and spent the night. (They are missionaries who are back in the States for the summer.) With 5 of us and 8 of them, we had a houseful. I loved it! (4 years ago, they visited while my parents were also here – 15 people. Wow!) Later this year, we may reach 15 again if two families (all of us are friends) visit at the same time. I try to remember what a blessing this is when I’m complaining about “too much housework”.

What fun! What kind of wild life do you have? Can’t wait to see inside.

    • Mandi Ehman

We have deer, buzzards, possums, foxes, wild turkeys, snakes, bunnies, lots and lots and lots of frogs (because the front half of our lot is wetlands)and all kinds of strange insects, like this nasty one.

Any tips for those of us who don’t use wordpress?

    • Anonymous

I’m sorry — it’s been so long since I’ve used Blogger that I’m afraid my only tip is to switch to WordPress!

ETA: Maybe you’re not on Blogger either — unfortunately I’m not very familiar with any of the other platforms!

  • Jimmie

Just got this installed on my new blog today. Thanks for this easy plug-in tutorial. One clarification, after installing the plug-in, look under SETTINGS to find it.
